Solel Systems was recently acquired by Siemens, Germany, for $418 million. Siemens out-bid several other potential buyers for the Beit Shemesh-based company, including French engineering corporation Alstom and Areva NP. In 2007, Solel Systems exported roughly $55 million-worth in technology. The company continued its growth in 2008 and 2009.

"At Solel there are about 500 employees, 400 of them from Israel and the rest from Spain."
