Solel Systems was recently acquired by Siemens, Germany, for $418 million. Siemens out-bid several other potential buyers for the Beit Shemesh-based company, including French engineering corporation Alstom and Areva NP. In 2007, Solel Systems exported roughly $55 million-worth in technology. The company continued its growth in 2008 and 2009.
"Solel began its operations in 1992 and we have been active in the field of solar thermal energy for almost 20 years, and our success in meeting both the market's demands and interests in our solar thermal systems is remarkable", explains Kenny Kleinerman, PR Director for Solel. "At Solel there are about 500 employees, 400 of them from Israel and the rest from Spain."
