The Private Engineering Office (PEO) is a government agency of the State of Qatar. Effectively starting in 2004, the agency falls under the auspices of the Emiri Diwan of Qatar and receives its directives from H.H. the Emir.
The Private Engineering Office is mandated to provide development, project management and property management services for properties that are of interest to H.H. the Emir, both locally and internationally. Such projects range from restoration and rehabilitation of existing structures into completely new developments with emphasis on balancing modern engineering with preservation of the country’s heritage.
Since its establishment, the PEO has had a significant number of successful projects mostly gone unpublicized to-date due to the nature of the project itself or the identity of the end user. Only a fraction that did reach the media was often quoted as an achievement to the Government of Qatar.
The PEO also manages a number of government assets, the most significant being Souq Waqef, the country's cultural and entertainment landmark. It was actually the PEO that was the driving force behind transforming the ancient Souq into a renowned tourist destination.
Today, the PEO is becoming a development powerhouse for the State of Qatar and has intriguing and significant projects underway.
