The Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation was established in June 1996, as a permanent tribute to Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere’s contribution to improving sustainably the quality of human relations. The Foundation is not affiliated with any political party or government. It is an intellectually and politically independent body. The Foundation works to promote Peace, Unity and People Centred Development throughout the World, and particularly in Africa.
The Foundation’s work is based on Mwalimu Nyerere’s belief in the fundamental principle that all humanity, regardless of their differences, are the purpose and justification for the existence of society, and all human activity in any given Way back July, 1994 Mwalimu Nyerere wrote to Dr. Nikos Geogulas of Manal Management Ltd of London on the then proposed Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Centre. Mwalimu was reaffirmed his support of the undertaking, as it meant for special benefit to Tanzania and Africa. And that the center would house his collected Documents speeches, letters, books, and papers on Africa development and history.
The Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation (MNF) was established under the Trustees Incorporation Ordinance (CAP 375) on 14th June 1994 as a permanent tribute to Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere’s contribution to improving the quality of human relations and development of mankind. The Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation is an intellectually and politically independent body that is not affiliated to any political party or government. Its mission is pursuit of Peace,Unity and People Centred Development in Africa and the world though justice for all.
