Born in Beirut in 1961, Kamel Abboud studied architecture at the “Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts” (ALBA) - University of Balamand, where he ranked first at his graduation in 1986; his diploma project won the prize awarded by the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut.
In 1987, he obtained a scholarship from the French government to study in France, where he got a postgraduate diploma (CEAA) in “Architecture & Animation of Socio-Cultural Equipments” from the "Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris – Villemin".
Between 1987 and 1994, he worked in Paris as architect in charge in several architectural firms. Back to Beirut, he worked for three years, as associate architect, in “Architectural Design Unit, Basile, Homsi & Associates”.
In 1997, he established “AK-Architects”, an independent architectural firm based in Beirut. ‘’AK-Architects’’ has been entrusted by many clients of various needs for the elaboration of their projects.
Professor at ALBA since 1997, he leads the 1st Class Architecture Workshop (graduate level) since 2003; he also supervises graduation projects and is a permanent member of the graduation jury.
