JGC Corporation (formerly Japan Gasoline Co., Ltd.) was founded on 25 October 1928 with capital of 2.5 million yen. Its first head office was located at Uchisaiwai-cho, Koji-machi, in Tokyo. The original purpose of the company was to purchase cracking processing technology from UOP (Universal Oil Products) of the USA, with the intent to construct and operate an oil refinery on the Pacific Rim. However, JGC opted to withdraw from refinery operations for several reasons, and instead, focused its business operations on promoting the UOP processing license. To further this new direction, the company commenced engineering operations during the 1930's.
JGC has carried out various EPC projects in the field of oil & gas/refinery / petrochemical for the services throughout the project, from planning to construction, and operation and maintenance (O&M).
