Envac AB is one of the leading environmental technology companies in Sweden and the global leader in the vacuum waste collection industry.
The company was formed by Olof H. Hallström in 1953 under the name Centralsug AB initially and it promoted and marketed a central dust vacuuming cleaning system. This used a fixed-installation vacuum cleaner, connected to pipes which were distributed to strategic outlets in a building.
A key question during a conversation that took place that Sollefteå Hospital was a defining moment in our history: “If we can vacuum the dust from every corner of the hospital in one single system, why can’t we do the same thing with the waste?” The idea had not occurred to anyone before and no-one knew whether it was even feasible, however Olof H Hallström rose to the challenge.
When Centralsug AB was bought by Stena Adactum AB in early 2000, the company name changed to Envac AB and the rest is history, as they say.
Envac now has 35 offices in 20 countries and over a 1000+ successful projects used by over 4 million customers daily. In fact, our first system which was installed in 1961 in the Sollefteå Hospital is still operational today. Our systems can now be found in residential areas, business premises, new build districts & city centres, industrial kitchens, healthcare facilities, hospitals and international airports. The technology is, in all meanings of the word, a sustainable solution. Our goal is to offer our customers the most sustainable waste collection system on the global market and by "most sustainable" we mean:

While the fundamental system principles have remained extant over the past 50 years, at Envac continue to develop and refine our solution in order to make it more efficient, safer and more cost effective..
• The introduction of smart IT means our system forms part of the ‘DNA of the building’ which can monitor, deal with multiple waste types and then sort it using optical sorting technology, thereby increasing recycling opportunities.
• Improving the system specifications which ensure installations are future-proof.
• Developing first-class O&M support teams who can operate systems and take the pressure off the customer.
• Refining retrofit techniques to meet new challenges.
Our mission is to contribute to a better urban environment by offering rational and sustainable waste collection systems and services. Our vision is that underground waste collection systems will become a utility and a natural part of the cities’ and the buildings’ infrastructure; just like electricity, sewage and the water supply. Our aim is to transform the way waste is dealt with, continually lower operational costs, add real value and capital savings on building construction by freeing up space.

The Middle East & India head office team are based in Dubai and after 15 years have a wealth of local knowledge and experience. Our growing regional portfolio of 26 projects (with a further 10 under construction) is a testament to the quality of design and our ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with Developers, Design Architects, Operators and lead contractors.
