Emirates Global Aluminium is one of the world’s largest ‘premium aluminium’ producers and the biggest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas.
We supply more than 350 customers in over 60 countries, and make the UAE the fifth-largest aluminium producing nation in the world.
We are the foundation of the broader UAE aluminium sector. More than 10 per cent of our production is sold to 26 local downstream companies.
EGA employs 8,000 people including almost 1,200 UAE Nationals.
We have focused on technology development for over 25 years and have used our own technology for every expansion since the 1990s.
In 2016 EGA became the first UAE industrial company to licence its core process technology internationally.
EGA aspires to be measured amongst the world’s leading metals and mining companies in meeting our environmental and social responsibilities.
EGA was the first Middle East headquartered company to join the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, which fosters greater sustainability and transparency in the global aluminium industry.
EGA owns and operates aluminium smelters at Al Taweelah in Abu Dhabi and at Jebel Ali in Dubai that are amongst the biggest industrial sites in the country.
We have our own power stations to produce electricity to meet our needs. Our generation capacity of 5,450 megawatts makes us the UAE’s third largest electricity generator.
EGA is currently expanding upstream and internationally. Our wholly-owned subsidiary Guinea Alumina Corporation is building a bauxite mine and export infrastructure in the Republic of Guinea – one of the largest greenfield investments in that country in 40 years.
In the UAE we are building alumina refinery that will be only the second in the Middle East. It will reduce the UAE’s dependence on imported alumina.
EGA was formed in 2014 through the merger of Dubai Aluminium and Emirates Aluminium.
It is equally-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of Abu Dhabi and the Investment Corporation of Dubai and is the largest company to jointly owned by the two Emirates.
