Edison Al Markhiya is a very friendly, welcoming and caring school. They believe that people achieve more when they feel happy, secure and valued. Their philosophy is to educate the whole person; they want the children to enjoy their learning and they have high expectations for their academic, creative and social progress. Team spirit is very much part of the ethos here and there is high expectations of all staff, students and parents to work cooperatively, to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and to give their best. There is a focused commitment on “Teaching and Learning”, which includes, staff, families and the community and they are proud of what they do. There is an emphasis on mutual support through which they develop their shared professionalism. They are reflective and adaptive in their practice. This is a safe place to make mistakes – making mistakes is a good way to learn! They are happy to try out new ideas, because they want to ensure that every child succeeds. As eager as they want to teach the students, they should be equally eager to learn. Although they are proud of their strengths, they are paying close attention to their weaknesses to ensure that they work together to improve these areas. They have seen much growth in the school from 2012 to date and the increase in numbers has given us validation that although they still have areas to improve, they are doing a good job in the community and parents are happy to be a part of the Edison family. They look forward to building a great relationship with all students and parents.
