Established by its Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, the Community Development Authority (CDA) was established in July 2008 and is responsible for organizing and developing community development frameworks in the emirate. The Commission's responsibilities include upgrading the social services standards in Dubai, promoting cohesion among all sectors of society, protecting the rights of the most vulnerable groups, enhancing citizens' and residents' awareness of national identity and activating Emiratis' role in society. The Community Development Authority (CDA) cooperates with its stakeholders in its programs and services to achieve the main objectives of the development sector and to develop the necessary infrastructure.
The Community Development Authority (CDA) develops policies, regulations and standards for social service providers based on its five strategic objectives that depend on the involvement of stakeholders and the strengthening of relations with them, including citizens, residents, government agencies, volunteers, all partners and service providers. The strategic axes of the Authority's work include diversifying sources of funding, enhancing productivity, efficiency and excellence in operations to ensure the provision of high quality services, and developing institutional organization in terms of distributing roles and key tasks to ensure the achievement of the objectives and vision of the Commission.
