The Al-Rifai Family Is A Well Known Family In Kuwait, And With Solid Contacts And Relations In Other GCC Countries. In Addition, The Al-Rifai Name Is An Old And Respected Trading And Contracting Name In Kuwait, With Extensive Contacts And Dealings With Government Ministries And Institutions, As Well As The Chemical And Petrochemical Sectors Of Industry In Kuwait.
The Group Was Established In 1913 By H.E. Sayid Rajab Al-Rifai. He Was A Founding Member, Of Other Companies Such As The Kuwait Danish Dairy Company, Americana, And Many Other Industries In Kuwait, And In Other GCC Countries. He Also Established Our Business In Dubai During 1958-59, Where We Were The Agents For General Motors, Jaguar Cars, British Leyland Etc., For Many Years. Hence, We Enjoy A Very Good Reputation, And Have Excellent Contacts And Relations In The UAE.
He Was Appointed Following Kuwait’s Independence, As The First Ambassador To The Republic Of Tunisia, And Served In This Post For A Period Of Four Years.
His Son The Late Col. Abdulla Sayid Rajab Al-Rifai, Formerly Took Over The Family Business After The Passing Away Of H.E. Sayid Rajab Al-Rifai In 1982. Col. Al-Rifai Enjoyed Two Careers During His Life Time. He Was A Professional Army Officer, And Was Appointed As The First Kuwaiti Undersecretary For The Ministry Of Defense In The First Government, Following The Independence Of Kuwait In 1961.
Subsequently, After Many Years Of Service In The Government, He Joined The Family Firm Where He Worked Very Hard At Expanding The Company’s Interests. Current Activities With Col.Al-Rifai’s Passing Away In 1995, A Third Generation Has Now Assumed The Managing Responsibilities Of The Company.
The Al-Rifai Group Consists Of Five Companies, All With Separate Identities And Registrations With The Ministries And Government Organizations, Under A Common Chairman And Has Diverse Business Interests Which Include The Following: General Contractors For Major International Projects, For Tenders, Marine Works, Telecommunications, Automotive, Healthcare, And Defense Related Equipment And Services. The Group Are Also Exclusive Agents For Major International Companies, And Are Suppliers Of Chemicals, Catalysts, Oil Field Equipment And Services To The Chemical And Petrochemical Industries.
The Group Was The Originator And A Founding Member Of The Gulf Cable Company, A Share Holding Company, 40% Of Which Is Owned By The Kuwaiti Government. The Group Was Also The Originator And A Founding Member Of The Recently Incorporated Kuwait Catalyst Company, Another Share Holding Company, Involving Prominent Kuwaitis, Along With Japanese Companies In The Formation Of A Joint Venture.
