Abener - Contractor, EPC
Abener belongs to Abeinsa, Abengoa’s business group for engineering, construction and concession-type infrastructures.
Abener Energía was set up in July 1994. Since its constitution, Abengoa S.A. transferred to Abener Energía S.A. (incorporated as "Biomasa y Aplicaciones S.A."), its engineering and construction division that developed, among others, the activities related to engineering, construction, supervision, management construction and operation and maintenance of the following kinds of power plants: solar (tower technology, parabolic trough technology, Integrated Solar Combined Cycle technology (ISCC)), biofuels (bioethanol, biodiesel, ETBE) and conventional generation (open cycles/combined cycles; add-ons; diesel power plants; cogeneration; biomass).
All the Abener companies have access to the experience and resource base of Abengoa including staff and equipment, however, depending on matters such as project location or organizational optimization, one of Abener's affiliates will be the party executing the project.
Contracts for Engineering, Procurement and Costruction (EPC) execution of projects are taken through one of many companies within Abengoa. Depending upon size of project Abengoa uses one of its many companies for taking EPC contracts. Sometimes EPC contracts may be taken in joint venture of two or more companies.
Since its beginning until now, Abener has grown internationally with a presence in Mexico, the USA, India, Poland and Chile.
The rapidly-growing number of pioneering projects carried out by the company all over the world has led to Abener today playing a leading role in the solar-thermal, biofuels and conventional power generation markets.
Abener’s strategic positioning and capabilities enable it to progress every day towards its goal of becoming a world leader in designing and building energy and industrial plants, using technological and innovative solutions that contribute to sustainable development.
