Connect is a national charity for people living with aphasia (communication disability) which is often caused by stroke.
Aphasia can strike anyone at any age and at any time. Every 11 minutes three people in the UK have a stroke. About a third of those people will have aphasia. Each person experiences it differently. Some people cannot speak at all, some people have just a few words. It affects reading, writing and numbers. Aphasia can lead to lack of confidence, depression, social exclusion – and people can lose their connection with the world. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Our vision is a simple one, we want a world where people with aphasia can re-connect with life again. Find out more about how we do that at www.ukconnect.org
